QUICK
CONSTRUCTION
All seam allowances are 1/4". Or you
can simply use the edge of your presser foot as a guide next to the edge
of your fabric.
HELPFUL HINT: Backstitching 2-3 stitches
at the beginning and ending of all seams is the best way to keep your seams
strong and stop them from unraveling. Make this a good habit!
| 2 |
Place the right sides of
the 7 1/4" squares right sides together. Sew only one side as shown below,
leaving an opening of 3" in the center. Then, press the seam in one direction. |
|
|
| 3 |
Lay
the batting rectangle over a flat surface. If using KK2000 Temporary Spray
Adhesive, spray it over the wrong side of the 7 1/4" x 14" rectangle of
fabric as directed on the instructions printed on the can. Then, place
the fabric over the batting with the wrong side against the batting. Center
the blunt edges of the ribbon over the 7 1/4" sides of the fabric; pin
in place. |
|
|
| 4 |
Finally, place the right
side of the rectangle sewn in Step 1 over top of the fabric and batting.
Pin through all layers so that all cut edges are even. Sew all the way
around the outside of the rectangle, removing the straight pins as the
presser foot approaches them. |
|
|
| 5 |
Cut off all four of the
corners leaving a 1/8" seam allowance. |
|
|
| 6 |
Turn the CD carrier right
side out through the center seam opening.
Use a point turner to turn out the
corners. Press the seams out. |
|
|
| 7 |
To prepare the pocket pages
that will hold your CDs, fold one of the flaps up and one of the flaps
toward the back of the felt piece as shown. Pin in place. |
|
|
|
Select either a zig-zag
stitch or a straight stitch and sew along the cut edges of each of the
flaps. |
|
|
| 8 |
 |
Repeat Steps 5 and 6 for other pocket
page.
| 9 |
With the seam
side of the CD carrier facing up, center each of the pocket pages over
top. Pin in the center of the pages as shown.
|
|
 |
| 10 |
Then, sew through
the center of the pages remembering to backstitch at the beginning and
ending of the seam. |
Fill the CD carrier with your favorite
CDs, tie the ribbon and you are ready to go! |
